An Emerald and Blush Wedding at The Modern in Long Beach

Raine and Ricky love to travel, so it felt right that they got married at The Modern, the bright, all white venue that sits on the edge of Long Beach Airport. On Saturday, January 25, 2025, they filled it with emerald green, soft blush florals and the people they love most. They told us the day was about two things: their friends and family, and finally being married to each other. Both showed up in every frame.

Getting Ready

The details set the tone: mint and white stationery, a green velvet ring box, His and Hers vow books, and bridal heels with a little message on the soles. Ricky and his groomsmen warmed up in basketball jerseys before changing into black suits, with Ricky in a light tan suit and emerald tie. Raine's bridesmaids, all in emerald satin, helped with her gown and veil before portraits on The Modern's white staircase, a spot she asked for.

A First Look Over the Runway

Their first look happened on the covered balcony overlooking the runway, one of the details they were most excited about. Ricky waited at the rail, turned around, and the goofy, inside joke energy they love about each other took over right away.

Portraits in the Hangar

Before the ceremony we took the wedding party to a hangar for photos beside a private jet, then out onto the tarmac between rows of small planes. For a couple whose favorite thing to do together is travel, it is hard to imagine a better backdrop.

Ceremony and Reception

Inside, white chairs faced a round floral arch in blush and ivory beneath The Modern's glass chandeliers. Raine walked in with her dad, and officiant James Chang married them to cheers from every row. The reception kept the energy going: a dance-in grand entrance, a first dance we captured from the upstairs balcony, and an outfit change into a red and gold traditional dress. By the end of the night guests were waving ribbon wands, the newlyweds were up on each other's shoulders, and everyone squeezed in for one huge group photo shot from above.
