Wendi and Kunwoo's Wedding at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA
Wendi and Kunwoo celebrated with their family and friends at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda on September 18, 2026, eight years after a carpool first brought them together.
It all started with a carpool. In July 2018, Wendi and Kunwoo shared a drive with their med school classmates and a bowl of clam chowder along the way. Kunwoo noticed two things right away: Wendi had the perfect poker face, and she was very pretty. He was one of the brave few who cracked her shell early, and after eight years together, four of them long distance, they stood in front of their loved ones and promised forever.
Wendi got ready with her bridesmaids at Embassy Suites Brea, and the two shared a first look under a sprawling tree on the library grounds. Before the ceremony they changed into traditional outfits for a tea ceremony with their families.
They said their vows under a floral arch on the garden lawn, with guests holding parasols in the afternoon sun. In her vows, Wendi remembered how "the goofy guy in my carpool group in med school" became her best friend, and how his favorite words of comfort, "We'll figure it out," became the heart of their partnership. Kunwoo kept everyone laughing, then turned serious about their long distance years: "No matter how far apart we were, you always just felt like home to me." They honored their parents with a bow before walking back up the aisle as husband and wife.
The reception moved into the East Room, with crystal chandeliers, white florals and a live saxophonist. Their siblings and friends raised heartfelt toasts, the couple cut their cake, and the night ended with a sparkler exit and an In-N-Out truck.

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum sits on a 9 acre campus in Yorba Linda, with the First Lady's Rose Garden and its reflecting pool, the restored Nixon birthplace, and the East Room, a replica of the White House East Room with crystal chandeliers and a 20 foot ceiling. Couples can spend the whole day in one place: Wendi and Kunwoo shared their first look under the trees, held their tea ceremony and vows on site, and celebrated in the East Room. For portraits, plan time in the gardens in the late afternoon, when the light turns golden behind the palms.
