A Tangled-Inspired Wedding in Redlands

Vannie and Elijah met on Coffee Meets Bagel, and their weekends are made of boba, video games, pickleball and time with friends and family, plus plenty of dark humor and random singing. They married at The Grove of Redlands, where the mountains, the pond and the palm trees set the scene for a day inspired by Tangled. Bridesmaids wore cool lilac, the groomsmen had sun-embroidered socks, and the wedding party traded bouquets for frying pans for a photo or two. The day started with a tea ceremony and ended with a lantern, a light-up bouquet toss and sparklers. Here are their Grove of Redlands wedding photos, captured by One and Only Production.

Lilac Details

Vannie and Elijah's flat lay set the Tangled theme from the start: a storybook invitation with a castle and floating lanterns, lilac ribbon, sparkly heels and Elijah's purple socks embroidered with their initials, all styled with florals from Peonies and Petals.

Vannie Getting Ready

Vannie got ready in the bridal cottage at The Grove of Redlands with her bridesmaids in matching robes, each with a sun emblem on the back. Her mom and her sister Shawnia, her maid of honor, helped her into her Maggie Sottero gown before the first look.

Elijah and His Groomsmen

Elijah got ready with his groomsmen, led by his older brother and best man Joshua. He wore navy with a lilac tie while the guys wore gray, and his socks carried their initials in purple.

A Prank First Look and the Real One

Before the real first look, one of the groomsmen put on a veil and a white dress and walked up behind Elijah, and the whole group lost it. Then Vannie came down the path by the pond, and Elijah's reaction said everything.

Lilac Bridesmaids and Frying Pans

Vannie's bridesmaids wore cool lilac and Elijah's groomsmen wore gray, and in true Tangled fashion the wedding party swapped bouquets for frying pans, holding them over the couple for a kiss.

Ceremony with a Mountain View

The ceremony took place on the lawn at The Grove of Redlands under a pergola draped in lilac, with the mountains behind them and guests shaded by white parasols. Elijah's dad officiated, his mom sang for them, and even their cats were there in their stroller.

Golden Hour at The Grove

After the ceremony Vannie and Elijah took a few photos with their two cats, then wandered the gardens, the pond and the hedges as the light turned gold over the mountains.

Reception on the Patio

The reception was set on the patio under string lights with the mountains glowing at sunset. Vannie and Elijah danced in for their grand entrance and raised a toast with Double Happiness Pearl Tea, a boba pour in place of champagne.

First Dance and a Lantern

Their first dance had a lift, a dip and cold sparks on either side, and it ended with best man Joshua running up to hand them a glowing Tangled lantern.

Dance Floor and Sparklers

The night carried on with speeches, a light-up bouquet toss and a packed dance floor, and Vannie and Elijah closed it out with a sparkler send-off.
