Tin & Fong at Carlsbad Windmill

July 28, 2024 · Carlsbad Windmill, Carlsbad

A Carlsbad Windmill Wedding in Carlsbad

Tin and Fong love to travel, ride bikes together and take on DIY renovation projects at home, and when asked what makes them laugh, their answer was simply everything. They married on July 28, 2024 at Carlsbad Windmill in Carlsbad, with getting ready, the ceremony and the reception all on one property. Tin's bridesmaids wore sage green and Fong's groomsmen matched him in black, with white florals and greenery throughout. The day moved from a first look under the trees to a ceremony in the white chapel, a first dance in the ballroom, sunset portraits on the windmill terrace and a lion dance. Here is their Carlsbad Windmill wedding, photographed by One and Only Production.

The Details

Tin and Fong's invitation suite came with sage green wax seals, pearls, cream roses and an ornate ring box, styled alongside Tin's gold and pearl jewelry.

Tin Gets Ready at Carlsbad Windmill

Tin got ready in the bridal suite at Carlsbad Windmill with her bridesmaids in matching white robes, then changed into a sleek slip dress with long earrings. Her mom stopped in wearing a pink qipao.

Tin and Her Bridesmaids in the Garden

We took Tin out to the lawn and the white gazebo, where her bridesmaids in sage green gathered around her under the big trees.

Fong Gets Ready

Fong wore a black tuxedo with a black shirt and bow tie. His groomsmen kept things loose with foosball and ping pong in the groom's suite before heading outside.

A First Look Under the Trees

Fong waited on the lawn while Tin walked up behind him. He turned around, and the two of them could not stop smiling.

The Wedding Party and Chapel Portraits

Sage green dresses and black suits came together on the lawn, and after the ceremony we went back into the white chapel for portraits in front of the drapes.

Ceremony Details at the Windmill

The black windmill stands over the whole property. Inside, the white chapel with its cathedral ceiling was set with white florals along the aisle, a floral hoop sign and a welcome easel.

Ceremony in the White Chapel

Tin and Fong's ceremony took place in the white chapel under the skylights. Their wedding party walked in first, the flower girls followed, and the two of them shared their vows in front of family and friends.

Just Married

Right after the ceremony we found a quiet room with tall arched windows for a few minutes alone, then joined family by the white window panels on the cocktail patio.

Reception in the Ballroom

The ballroom at Carlsbad Windmill has exposed black beams and plenty of window light. Round tables were set with sage green runners and napkins, and a Best Wedding Ever sign set the tone.

Grand Entrance, First Dance, Speeches and Cake

Tin and Fong made their grand entrance into the ballroom and went straight into their first dance. Fong welcomed everyone, family shared speeches, and then they cut the cake together.

Sunset on the Windmill Terrace

At sunset we slipped out to the windmill terrace for golden light, with Tin's veil catching the breeze. Fong changed into a black embroidered jacket and Tin carried a round fan.

Lion Dance

Tin and Fong reentered the ballroom with a lion dance, and the lions worked their way around every table before posing with the couple and their red couplet banners.

Bouquet Toss, Toasts and a Sparkler Last Dance

Tin tossed her bouquet, the couple toasted table by table, and the night closed with a dance between cold sparkler fountains.
