Stella & James at Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel

August 9, 2025 · Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel, San Gabriel

A Sheraton Wedding in San Gabriel

Stella and James were set up by their friend Rodney, who talked Stella into a double date with him and his wife, one of her bridesmaids. They met at 85 Degrees in Daly City, bonded over how much they hope to give back to their communities, and swapped numbers at the end of the day. Since then it has been good eats, travel, comedies, cartoons, boba and small dogs. They married on August 9, 2025, at the Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel, starting with door games and a tea ceremony blending Chinese and Filipino traditions, then a first look in the courtyard and a ceremony and reception in the ballroom, all in blush, ivory and champagne. Here is their Sheraton San Gabriel wedding, photographed by One and Only Production.

The Details

Stella and James's day started with red and white invitations, Mickey and Minnie dressed for the wedding, and a green stone engagement ring set on the card with both their names. A red paper cut of the double happiness couple hinted at the traditions to come.

Door Games and Tea Ceremony at the Sheraton San Gabriel

Before James could reach Stella, the bridesmaids met him and the groomsmen with door games: questions read off cards, red envelopes and a round of push ups. Once he made it through, Stella was waiting in a red qipao. Their tea ceremony brought together Chinese and Filipino traditions, with double happiness cups, red cushioned chairs, and family members receiving tea and giving their blessings.

James and the Groomsmen

James finished getting ready in a wood paneled lounge at the hotel, in a black tuxedo with a teal vest and bow tie, while his groomsmen helped with the boutonniere. Then the group headed out to the courtyard lawn for photos in the sun.

Stella and Her Bridesmaids

Stella wore a strapless ivory gown with a long veil and carried blush and white flowers. Out on the courtyard lawn, her bridesmaids in champagne gowns and her bridesman joined her, and her veil kept catching the breeze.

First Look and Portraits in the Sheraton San Gabriel Courtyard

James waited in the sunny courtyard while Stella walked up behind him. Seeing Stella in her dress was one of the things he was looking forward to most, and his face said it all. They stayed in the courtyard for portraits among the trees and planters.

The Wedding Party

Stella's six and James's six brought champagne gowns, black tuxedos and plenty of energy to the courtyard lawn.

The Ceremony in the Sheraton San Gabriel Ballroom

The ceremony was held in the hotel ballroom, with rows of chairs facing an arch of blush and white flowers. Rodney, the friend who set them up, officiated. Stella and James held hands, exchanged rings, and listened side by side as friends shared a few words, and James had to wipe away some tears. They finished with a kiss and a dip in the aisle.

Reception in the Sheraton San Gabriel Ballroom

The ballroom was reset for the reception with round tables, white linens and a big screen. Mickey and Minnie showed up again at the welcome table, the seating chart was drawn as a theme park map, and guests signed a red embroidered cloth. A boba bar served milk tea and fruit teas, a nod to one of the things the couple bonded over.

Grand Entrance and First Dance

The wedding party danced into the ballroom while guests waved their napkins, and Stella and James ended up in the middle of a group hug. Then they shared their first dance on the white dance floor.

Surprise Groomsmen Dance and Parent Dances

Stella took a seat in the middle of the dance floor for a surprise: the groomsmen put on sunglasses and performed a dance just for her. The parent dances came next, with Stella and James each sharing a dance with a parent.

Speeches and Table Greetings

Family and friends took the microphone for the speeches Stella and James were looking forward to, and the room laughed along with every story. Afterward, the two of them stopped by the tables to greet their guests.

Games, the Shoe Game and Cake

Reception games pulled the groomsmen and guests onto the dance floor, and in the shoe game Stella and James held up shoes to answer questions about each other. Then they cut the cake together, laughing the whole way through.

Money Dance and Bouquet Toss

For the Filipino money dance, guests pinned bills to Stella and James, and both of them ended up in crowns. Then Stella tossed her bouquet to a crowd of hopeful guests.

Dance Floor and Photo Booth

With glow sticks in hand, guests filled the dance floor under purple lights, and Stella changed into a white suit jacket for the party. The photo booth stayed busy all night.
