A Palos Verdes Engagement Session at South Coast Botanic Garden

Kim and Vincent spent a late February afternoon with us at South Coast Botanic Garden on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Kim carried a loose wildflower bouquet with her flowing white V-neck dress, and Vincent wore a light tan suit with a crisp white shirt. We wandered sunlit garden paths, found early pink blooms among the palms and blossoming trees, explored the cactus garden, and caught golden hour on the meadow by the white gazebo. They also brought matching red ao dai for a second look that honored their heritage. Here is their South Coast Botanic Garden engagement session, photographed by One and Only Production.

Sunlit Garden Paths

The garden's winding paths are lined with silvery shrubs, soft plantings and old trees that filter the afternoon light. We started with individual portraits, Kim with her wildflower bouquet and Vincent in his tan suit, then let them walk the paths together.

Spring Blooms and Palms

In late February, a tree near the palms was already covered in pink blossoms, framed by spiky agave and a tall palm overhead. It made for soft, close moments, and a late winter session here can catch color most of Los Angeles does not have yet.

The Cactus Garden

Towering columnar cacti, sculptural succulents and big sandstone boulders make this one of the most distinctive corners of the Garden. Kim's white dress and Vincent's tan suit stood out against the blue-green cacti, and the lift became one of our favorite frames of the day.

Under the Blossoming Trees

Out on the lawn, a grove of trees in full pink bloom gave us a dreamy canopy. We slowed down here for a piggyback ride, quiet moments on a bench under the wooden pergola, and close details of Kim's ring.

The Meadow and White Gazebo at Golden Hour

As the sun lowered, we headed to the open meadow, where a white lattice gazebo sits among cypress trees and wide lawn. Golden hour light did the rest: a dip kiss by the gazebo, laughter lying in the grass, and Kim and Vincent cheering with the bouquet raised high.

A Second Look in Red Ao Dai

For their second look, Kim and Vincent wore matching red ao dai with white embroidery. We photographed them in a palm-lined courtyard and again under a tree in pink bloom, where Kim's long panels caught the breeze as she twirled.

Planning a South Coast Botanic Garden Engagement Session?

South Coast Botanic Garden packs garden paths, spring blooms, a cactus garden and a meadow with a white gazebo into one visit, so you get real variety without driving between locations. Posed engagement sessions need a photo permit on top of admission, reservations go through the Garden's events team at least 5 days ahead, and props and on-site outfit changes are restricted, so check the Garden's current photography policy before you book. Late winter and spring bring the most blooms.
