Betsy & Mikey at Hyatt Regency Long Beach

October 14, 2023 · Wayfarers Chapel and Hyatt Regency Long Beach

A Hyatt Regency Long Beach Wedding in Long Beach

Betsy and Mikey love working out at the gym, eating good food, watching anime and trading quirky puns, and their wedding had all of that personality. They married on October 14, 2023, with the ceremony at Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes and the reception in the Beacon Ballroom at Hyatt Regency Long Beach, where they also got ready. The palette was burgundy, blush and dusty rose with grey suits, and the night had a playful side: Totoro on the cake, a ramen bar, a temporary tattoo bar and special party favors for every guest. Here is their Hyatt Regency Long Beach wedding, photographed by One and Only Production.

The Details

Betsy and Mikey's flat lay set the palette for the day: burgundy and blush flowers, a cream ring box, a moss lined ring box and a simple white invitation suite.

Betsy Gets Ready at Hyatt Regency Long Beach

Betsy got ready in a suite at Hyatt Regency Long Beach, with warm wood walls and soft window light. She slipped into her strapless lace gown and picked up a bouquet of burgundy and blush roses.

Betsy and Her Bridesmaids

The bridesmaids started the morning in matching floral robes, then changed into dusty rose satin. They had their own first look with Betsy before helping with her train and veil.

Mikey and the Groomsmen

Mikey wore a grey three piece suit with a blush pink tie and a peach rose boutonniere. His groomsmen matched him in grey, and nobody stayed serious for long.

Bridal Portraits

We took Betsy through a wooden covered walkway and down a set of stone steps among the trees, with plenty of shade and soft light for her gown and veil.

The Wedding Party

Betsy and Mikey's wedding party brought the cheers, with bridesmaids in dusty rose and groomsmen in grey filling the lawn.

Ceremony at Wayfarers Chapel

Betsy and Mikey were married at Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, under its glass roof among the trees. Rev. Jonathan Mitchell led the ceremony, which included a unity candle and a flower tribute to their mothers. The chapel closed in 2024, which makes these photos even more special.

Portraits at Wayfarers Chapel

Once guests stepped out, we had the chapel to ourselves for a few minutes. The glass and timber arches made a stunning frame for Betsy and Mikey.

Golden Hour Under the Palms

As the sun went down we found a palm lined plaza and let Betsy and Mikey enjoy the warm evening light together.

Reception in the Beacon Ballroom

The reception was in the Beacon Ballroom at Hyatt Regency Long Beach. Round tables were dressed in white with tall white and blush centerpieces, moss terrarium favors sat at every place, and a photo booth table waited with props. The sweetheart table had hanging white florals against a plaid backdrop.

Grand Entrance and First Dance

The wedding party danced their way into the Beacon Ballroom before Betsy and Mikey made their entrance. Their first dance was not choreographed, just the two of them having fun under the chandeliers.

Parent Dances and Speeches

Betsy changed into a fitted white satin second look for the parent dances. Then came the speeches, with Betsy and Mikey listening from the sweetheart table.

Cake, Bouquet and Money Dance

The cake had Studio Ghibli touches: Totoro toppers and a cat bus among the sugar flowers. Betsy tossed her bouquet, Mikey went for the garter, and the money dance covered his vest in dollar bills.

Ramen, Ice Cream and the Dance Floor

Late night brought an ice cream station from Afters Ice Cream and a ramen bar. DJ Ever Ed-E kept the Beacon Ballroom dance floor full until the end of the night.
