A Table Rock Beach Engagement Session in Laguna Beach

Amy and Michael's engagement session started in the gardens and ended with their feet in the sand at Table Rock Beach, one of the smaller coves in South Laguna. Amy began in a soft white dress next to Michael in navy, then changed into a blush pink gown for the beach while Michael switched to a crisp white shirt. Between the bright bougainvillea, the sandstone rock the beach is named for and a long golden hour over the water, there was no shortage of backdrops. Garden Portraits in White

We started away from the water, where a white garden gate, potted greenery and walls of magenta bougainvillea gave us plenty of color to work with. Amy and Michael warmed up quickly, and by the time we reached the flowers they were dipping, laughing and leaning in for kisses.

A Flower-Lined Stairway to the Sand

Getting to Table Rock Beach means taking a stairway down from the street, and this one was framed by pink blooms overhead. Once on the sand we took a few solo portraits, with Amy's pink gown catching the breeze and Michael relaxed in white.

The Rock at Table Rock Beach

The beach takes its name from the flat-topped sandstone formation sitting near the waterline, and it made the perfect anchor for wide frames. We used it as a backdrop for walking shots, a few twirls and Michael scooping Amy up off the sand.

Golden Hour by the Water

As the sun dropped, the whole cove turned warm and hazy. We slowed down for close-ups of the ring, let Amy and Michael play in the waves and finished with quiet portraits in the last light.
